When a sprayer loses pressure, spits or will not prime, the cause is almost always one of six wear points. Find the number on the drawing that matches what you are seeing, and the parts for it are below, each one matched to its factory diagram.
The packings seal the piston inside the pump cylinder. As they wear, paint weeps around the packing nut and the pressure creeps down, then the pump starts to pulse or struggle to hold a steady spray. A repacking kit replaces the full set of seals at once, which is the usual fix for a pump that has lost its pressure. Kits are specific to the fluid section, so match the kit number to your sprayer's diagram. Heavy production work, primers and filled coatings wear packings faster.
A scored or pitted piston rod will cut through brand-new packings, so if a fresh repack does not cure the problem, or new seals fail early, check the rod. Two rods cover many Impact owners: 704-551A is listed on the Impact 410, 440, 540 and 640 fluid sections, and 805-456A on the Impact 1040 and 1140. They are not interchangeable, so confirm the number on your own fluid section diagram before you order.
The valves let the pump hold prime and pressure between strokes. If the sprayer will not prime, loses pressure the moment you release the trigger, or pulses, a worn ball or seat, or a dirty valve, is a common cause. Two parts to start with are the PrimeSpray valve assembly 700-258 and the valve repair kit 537903. Both are listed against specific pump diagrams, so match yours first.
Filters protect the pump and the tip from the grit and dried paint that cause most clogs. A sprayer that spits, clogs the tip again and again, or sprays unevenly often needs a clean or new filter before anything else. Manifold filters, inlet screens and gun filters are inexpensive, so keep spares in the truck and change them before a job instead of in the middle of one. Choose the mesh your coating calls for.
The tip sets your fan width and flow rate, and it wears a little with every gallon. A worn tip throws a ragged fan with heavy edges and uses more paint. Tip guards protect the tip and your hands, and tip seals stop leaks where the tip meets the gun. When you change a tip, check the guard and the seal at the same time. Line striping crews will find the TR1 419 striping tip here too.
A kinked or weeping hose, a gun that leaks from the body or trigger, and loose fittings all show up as lost pressure or paint where you do not want it. The Titan RX-Pro and RX-80 guns and a 50 ft airless hose cover the most common replacements. If you need a seal or a part inside a gun, use that gun's own parts list: RX-Pro parts list or RX-80 parts list.
