Airless sprayers work at pressures high enough to inject paint through skin, which is a medical emergency. Before buying, confirm the gun, hose and tip guard are rated at or above the sprayer's maximum pressure, keep the tip guard on, relieve pressure as your manual describes before any service, ground the setup, and practice on cardboard. Why airless safety is different
An airless sprayer pushes coating through a tiny tip at very high fluid pressure. That pressure is what gives the speed, and it is also the hazard. A jet of paint can inject fluid through the skin. The injury can look like a small cut, but it is a serious medical emergency. If it happens, get immediate medical attention and tell the doctor what the fluid was.
The rules that follow from this are short. Never put a hand or finger over the tip. Never point the gun at any part of your body. Never test the spray on skin. Keep the tip guard fitted. Engage the gun's trigger lock whenever you are not spraying.
Gun, hose and tip guard must meet the sprayer's pressure
No part of the system should run above the lowest pressure rating in it. A sprayer's maximum pressure is only safe if the gun, the hose, the fittings and the tip guard are all rated for at least that pressure. When you replace any of them, check the rating on the part, not just the fit.

Titan's pages also list hose families rated 4500, 6500 and 7500 psi. A 3300 psi sprayer such as an Impact can use a 3300 psi hose, but not an LX-40 gun rated 3000 psi.
Titan describes its hose as solid urethane with a conductive tube design for proper grounding, and it advises replacing damaged hose. Use airless-rated, conductive hose only. The site's hose page and the gun, hose and tip kits list the options, for example the 316-505 1/4 in. x 50 ft hose and the RX-Pro gun.
Tip guards are the part buyers skip. They are rated too, and they keep a hand away from the orifice. The tip guards page has the 0289228 G-thread guard, the 450-100A adjustable guard and the 661-027 guard. Confirm which one your gun takes before ordering.
Pressure relief and trigger lock
Before cleaning, changing a tip, servicing a part or stopping work, follow the pressure relief procedure in your model's manual. The steps differ between models, so we do not give a generic version here. In general the procedure involves switching the sprayer off and relieving pressure through the gun and the prime or drain valve as your manual describes. Manuals are on our manuals page. Power, extension cords and gas engines
Electric sprayers need a suitable power supply and extension cord. The correct amperage and cord length depend on the model, so take them from the manual. Gas sprayers give portability on sites without power. Run and fuel any gas engine only outdoors or in a ventilated area, away from ignition sources.
Practice before the first real job
- Spray a test pattern on cardboard, never skin, to learn the fan before you reach a wall.
- Hold the gun square to the surface and keep a steady distance.
- Pull the trigger after you start moving and release it before you stop.
- Overlap each pass by about half the fan.
- Adjust pressure as Titan describes: too little pressure leaves tails in the pattern, too much gives overspray, waste and cleanup.
What to have on hand
- The manual for your exact model, with the pressure relief steps marked.
- A spare tip and the 661-020 tip seat and seal kit, since a worn tip raises waste and degrades the pattern.
- Filters suited to your coating, such as the 540-060 60 mesh filter. Partly blocked filters cause pressure loss, pulsing and spitting, and they need cleaning after every job. See Titan filters.
