Beyond the electric Impact line, Titan's heavy-duty sprayers split three ways. PowrTwin 12000 Plus is a gas hydraulic unit at 3.15 gpm and 3600 psi for up to 6 guns. Hydra X is gas hydraulic for roofing and protective coatings, at 4500 psi (4540) or 7250 psi (7230). PowrCoat runs on air, where air pressure times the pump ratio sets the output pressure.
When a bigger sprayer is justified
Titan's larger sprayers are for work that outgrows one gun and a medium tip: several guns running off one machine, large tips, heavy or protective coatings, and volumes of 500 gallons a week or more. If your numbers are smaller, the electric Impact line or a mid-size gas unit will likely cover you. Everything below is from Titan's pages, including the coatings, which are Titan's recommendations and not a promise for every product. Check the coating's data sheet and the manual for your model.
PowrTwin 12000 Plus and 12000 Plus DI
The PowrTwin 12000 Plus is Titan's largest PowrTwin. Titan lists 3.15 gpm, 3600 psi, a Honda GX270 engine and a recommended 500 or more gallons per week. It runs up to 6 guns, and the maximum tip falls as you add guns: 0.058 in. with one gun, 0.040 in. with two, 0.034 in. with three, 0.030 in. with four and 0.026 in. with five. Titan lists 3600 psi as the maximum.
The DI version, the PowrTwin 12000 Plus DI, uses direct immersion with a submersed foot valve, for very heavy coatings including drywall mud, and an EZ swing frame that Titan says reduces spillage on paint changes and lowers the center of gravity. The standard unit is the PowrTwin 12000 Plus. Parts are on the PowrTwin gas parts page and the 12000 Plus DI fluid section page.
Hydra X 4540 and 7230
Hydra X is Titan's gas hydraulic series for roofing, waterproofing, protective coatings, epoxies, mastics and thermal barrier work on large commercial and industrial jobs. Both models use a Honda GX390 engine and a 5 in. slow-stroking piston in the fluid section, and both require Titan Coolflo hydraulic fluid, 430-361.
- Hydra X 4540: 4500 psi and 4.0 gpm, up to 6 guns, a 0.067 in. maximum tip with one gun. Titan's launch materials mention heavy coatings such as asphalt emulsion and acrylic roof coatings.
- Hydra X 7230: 7250 psi and up to 5 guns, with a 0.035 in. tip at two guns and 0.021 in. at five. It delivers less than the 4540. Titan's launch materials mention harder-to-atomize materials such as silicone roof coatings.
Published flow and tip figures for the 7230 vary between sources, so this guide gives only the figures that agree. Confirm anything else against your manual. Titan says the modular fluid section supports two performance levels, and the site lists conversion kits between the 4540 and 7230. The Hydra series parts page holds the diagrams.
PowrCoat air-powered sprayers
PowrCoat sprayers use an air supply instead of an engine or motor. Each Titan model page lists an air pressure of 100 psi and a ratio, and the output pressure is about the air pressure times the ratio. The last two digits of the model number match the ratio:
PowrCoat ratios and maximum operating pressure (Titan model pages)
| Model | Ratio | Max operating pressure |
|---|---|---|
| PowrCoat 730 | 30:1 | 3000 psi |
| PowrCoat 745 | 45:1 | 4500 psi |
| PowrCoat 940 | 40:1 | 4000 psi |
| PowrCoat 960 | 60:1 | 6000 psi |
| PowrCoat 1045 | 45:1 | 4500 psi |
| PowrCoat 1064 | 64:1 | 6400 psi |
| PowrCoat 1072 | 72:1 | 7250 psi |
Titan's PowrCoat series page gives a flow range of 1.5 to 6.0 GPM for the series; this guide does not give per-model flow.
Titan says an air filter, moisture separator, regulator and lubricator are included, and describes the series as having self-adjusting packings and a hard-chrome piston rod and cylinder. See the PowrCoat series parts.
PowrBeast and the rest of the heavy end
PowrBeast is direct immersion. Titan's PowrBeast 7700 (230V electric) lists 1.60 gpm at 3300 psi for up to 4 guns, and Titan says the gas PowrBeast series spans 1.60 to 3 GPM. It is the electric model, so it has no engine to list. The gas PowrBeast 9700 (Honda) is listed on the site, and parts are on the PowrBeast parts page.
Table: pick by guns, flow and pressure
Heavy-duty Titan sprayers, as Titan publishes them
| Sprayer | Drive | Pressure | Flow | Guns |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PowrTwin 12000 Plus | Gas hydraulic, Honda GX270 | 3600 psi | 3.15 gpm | Up to 6 |
| Hydra X 4540 | Gas hydraulic, Honda GX390 | 4500 psi | 4.0 gpm | Up to 6 |
| Hydra X 7230 | Gas hydraulic, Honda GX390 | 7250 psi | Less than the 4540 | Up to 5 |
| PowrCoat series | Air supply, 100 psi | 3000 to 7250 psi by model | 1.5 to 6.0 GPM across series | See model page |
| PowrBeast 7700 | Electric, direct immersion | 3300 psi | 1.60 gpm | Up to 4 |
Weights are left out because sources disagree. Check your model's page.
Read it by need. Gun count and tip size point to the PowrTwin or Hydra X 4540. Highest pressure points to the Hydra X 7230 or the larger PowrCoat ratios. Having a strong air supply on site, rather than an engine or motor, points to PowrCoat. These are use cases, not rankings. Wear parts for each model are on its fluid section pages; call (713) 931-0006 with your model and serial number to confirm.

The Short Version
Choose by gun count and tip size first, then by the pressure and drive that suit your coatings. The PowrTwin 12000 Plus, Hydra X and PowrCoat lines overlap less than they seem, and each has its own diagram pages when it is time to order parts.
