What the Optional AirCoat Suction Set Contains
The AirCoat Air-Assisted Suction Set is an optional material-feed assembly that allows the AirCoat 620 spray system to draw coating directly from an external container. It is designed for applications that require a larger material supply, longer spraying periods, or continuous production without repeatedly refilling an onboard hopper.
The suction set provides the connection between the coating container and the fluid pump inlet. During operation, the pump creates the suction required to pull material through the intake tube and into the fluid section. The fluid pump then pressurizes the coating and directs it through the high-pressure filter, fluid regulator, spray hose, and AirCoat spray gun. Regulated assist air introduced at the gun improves atomization and produces a controlled spray pattern with reduced overspray.
The optional assembly typically incorporates the suction tube, intake strainer, return tube, fluid hoses, fittings, seals, clamps, and related connection hardware required to establish a secure material path. The intake strainer helps prevent larger contaminants from entering the pump, while the return line directs circulating or priming material back into the coating container.
The AirCoat Air-Assisted Suction Set is particularly useful for extended production runs and applications involving larger coating volumes. Drawing directly from a separate container reduces interruptions caused by frequent hopper refilling and enables operators to select a container size appropriate for the job. The assembly also supports priming, pressure relief, material circulation, flushing, and coating recovery procedures.
Reliable suction depends on airtight connections throughout the material-feed path. Loose fittings, damaged seals, split tubes, clogged strainers, hardened coating deposits, or an intake tube positioned above the material level can allow air into the system. These conditions may cause difficult priming, pump cavitation, interrupted fluid delivery, pressure fluctuations, or an inconsistent spray pattern.
Routine maintenance should include cleaning the suction tube and strainer, inspecting hoses for cracks or collapse, tightening connections, checking seals, and confirming that the return tube remains securely positioned inside the material container. All wetted components should be thoroughly flushed whenever changing coatings or placing the sprayer into storage.
