What the AirCoat Pump Head Assembly Contains
The AirCoat Air-Assisted Pump Head Assembly is the primary fluid-handling section responsible for drawing coating into the sprayer, pressurizing it, and delivering a controlled material flow to the spray gun. It works with the pneumatic drive system to convert compressed-air power into the reciprocating movement required for dependable high-pressure coating delivery.
During operation, material enters the pump head from the hopper or optional suction set. The pump’s internal inlet components admit coating during the intake stroke, while the outlet components direct pressurized material toward the high-pressure filter, fluid regulator, hose, and AirCoat spray gun. Regulated assist air introduced at the gun completes atomization and helps produce a controlled spray pattern with reduced overspray and consistent finish quality.
The pump head assembly contains the fluid passages, inlet and outlet valve components, piston or displacement components, packings, seals, seats, balls, springs, fittings, and retaining hardware required to control material intake and discharge. These precision components must seal correctly and move freely to maintain pressure, prevent internal bypass, and deliver a steady coating supply throughout each pump cycle.
The inlet valve opens as the pump draws material into the fluid section and closes when the pump changes direction. The outlet valve then permits pressurized coating to leave the pump while preventing reverse flow. Packings and seals maintain pressure around the moving displacement components, while the pump housing keeps the internal fluid path aligned and contained.
A properly serviced AirCoat Pump Head Assembly supports reliable priming, stable operating pressure, uniform material delivery, and consistent spray performance. Worn packings, damaged valve balls or seats, clogged passages, hardened coating deposits, loose fittings, or deteriorated seals can cause pressure loss, fluid leakage, difficult priming, pump cycling without material delivery, or an uneven spray pattern.
