A stand-mounted ControlMax uses the site's 'ControlMax 1500/1700 Main Assembly (Stand Models)' diagram. It lists seven part numbers: the stand package, door, suction tube, inlet valve kit, inlet valve fitting, outlet valve assembly and return tube fitting. When the pump will not prime or loses pressure, the inlet and outlet valve parts are the first place to look.
Identify your ControlMax first
Titan's ControlMax line in our research runs from the 1500 to the 1700 and 1700 Pro to the 1900 and 1900 Pro. The site splits its diagrams into two main assembly pages: ControlMax 1500/1700 Main Assembly (Stand Models) and ControlMax 1700Pro/1900 Pro Main Assembly (Cart Models). The page titles are the clue: a 1500 or a plain 1700 on a stand goes to the first, and a Pro on a cart goes to the second.
You may see a ControlMax 1900 described online as a skid model. Neither Titan's listings nor our diagrams show one. The 1900 that Titan lists is the 1900 Pro on a cart, so a 1900 owner should use the cart-models page. If your sprayer does not fit either description, phone (713) 931-0006 with the model and serial number before you order anything.
Titan's name for the line also ties to HEA, for High Efficiency Airless tip technology. That is a feature of the spray tips, and the ControlMax HEA page is where the family is grouped on the site. The word Pro appears in the diagram titles, but we have found nothing from Titan that defines it beyond that, so treat the diagram title, not the word, as your guide.
The stand-model main assembly at a glance
The stand-model diagram has eight callout lines but only seven different part numbers, because the inlet valve fitting is called out twice. That is the whole assembly, which makes it one of the shortest diagrams on the site.
Stand-model main assembly parts
The diagram has no pump or motor parts on it. The piston and seal assembly and the complete fluid section appear only on the cart-model page, as 0580393 and 0580493. That does not necessarily mean a stand model has no such part; it means the stand-model page does not list one, so ask us before you assume.
Inlet and outlet valves: the usual suspects
A piston pump has an inlet valve that lets coating in and an outlet valve that lets it out under pressure, and both rely on a ball sealing against a seat. When a ball or seat wears, or dried paint holds a ball off its seat, the pump can lose pressure or fail to prime. That is general airless knowledge, and it is the reason these three parts sit at the top of the list on this diagram.
Titan's ControlMax 1500 and 1700 manuals tell you to clean the inlet valve when the pump will not prime or loses pressure. Do that before you buy anything. If cleaning does not bring the sprayer back, the three parts to look at are the 0580391 inlet valve kit, the 0580071A inlet valve fitting and the 0580072A outlet valve assembly.
We do not list what is inside the inlet valve kit here, because the diagram only gives it as a kit. If you want to know whether it contains the part you have in mind, call (713) 931-0006 and ask before ordering.
Suction tube and return tube fitting
The suction tube draws coating up from the container. Before you blame the pump, look for the simpler problems on this side: a cracked tube, a loose connection or air getting in, any of which can cost you prime in the same way a worn valve does. These are cheap to rule out and need nothing more than a careful look.
The return tube fitting, 9885553, is the one part on the return side of the stand-model diagram. If you need a clip, clamp or inlet filter, the separate Pro suction set page lists them, but it also carries parts marked cart only. Check the callout against your own sprayer, or call us, before ordering from it.
Stand and door
The 0580389 stand assembly package and the 0580041B door are structural parts. They have nothing to do with how the pump performs, so they matter only if something is cracked, missing or damaged.
A cart model has a different layout and a different set of parts, so do not order from the cart page for a stand model or the other way round. The site also lists a 0580005 ControlMax 1500 High Rider; if you own a High Rider, confirm with us which main assembly page matches before you buy.
Before you order
Read the label
Note the model on your sprayer's label and compare it with the diagram title: 1500/1700 for the stand page, 1700Pro/1900 Pro for the cart page.
Clean before you replace
For a pump that will not prime or has lost pressure, clean the inlet valve first, as the manual says, then check the suction tube for cracks and air leaks.
Match the callout
Open the stand-model diagram, find the callout, and add that part. Use the part numbers on the page, not numbers from older web listings.
