A ControlMax 1700 Pro or 1900 Pro uses two diagrams together: the cart-models main assembly, which lists the fluid section, piston/seal assembly, valves and prime valve kit, and the Pro suction set, which lists the inlet filter, its housing, the return tubes and the clips. When the pump will not prime, check the inlet filter and suction side before the fluid section.
Cart models and the diagrams that cover them
The ControlMax 1700 Pro and 1900 Pro share one main assembly page on the site, ControlMax 1700Pro/1900 Pro Main Assembly (Cart Models). Two more pages cover the parts around it: the Pro suction set and the Pro spray gun. Titan lists the 1900 as the 1900 Pro, so a 1900 owner uses these pages and not a separate cart diagram.
A 1500 or plain 1700 on a stand belongs to a different page, the stand-model main assembly. If you are not sure which you own, compare the model on the label with the diagram titles, or call (713) 931-0006 with the model and serial number.
Cart main assembly: what is on it
The cart page lists eleven callout lines. Compared with the stand page it adds the complete fluid section, the piston and seal assembly, the prime valve kit and the inlet filter housing, and it shows a cart version of the suction set.

Names are as the diagram shows them. The inlet valve fitting is marked 1500 / 1700 even on this page, so ask us if you need to be sure it matches your Pro.
The suction set: from pail to pump
The suction set is the line that carries coating from the container to the pump, and it is where the inlet filter sits. The Pro suction set page lists eight parts, and most are small items that get forgotten until one cracks or goes missing:
- 0580155 inlet filter, and 580154 inlet filter housing.
- 0580159A suction tube assembly, which appears on this page without a callout number.
- 0580208 return tube (cart) and 580487 return tube, shown as callouts 2 and 2a.
- 0327226 return tube clip, marked cart only.
- 0512390 suction set clip and 9890222 inlet hose clamp assembly.
The diagram does not say which return tube goes with which sprayer, so do not guess between 0580208 and 580487. Call us with your model if you need to choose.
In general airless terms, a partly blocked filter on the supply side shows up as pressure loss, pulsing or spitting, and a cracked tube or loose clamp can let air in and stop the pump priming. The inlet filter, the clamp and the suction tube cost the least to check on a cart, so look at them before you replace anything in the pump.
Fluid section and piston/seal assembly
Titan describes the ControlMax fluid section as replaceable and rebuildable, which is why the diagram lists a complete 0580493 fluid section assembly and a separate 0580393 piston/seal assembly. The idea is that a worn fluid section does not end the life of the sprayer. Titan gives no service interval in hours or gallons for either, so replace on symptoms.
The diagram does not say what is inside either assembly, so we will not describe it here. If you are choosing between the two, call (713) 931-0006 with your model and what the sprayer is doing.
Before you go as far as the fluid section, deal with the cheaper items. The manual's advice for a pump that will not prime or loses pressure is to clean the inlet valve, and valves and seats are where airless pumps commonly wear. The inlet valve kit and the outlet valve assembly are both on the cart page.
Prime valve and pressure relief
The 580395 prime valve kit belongs to the PRIME/SPRAY valve, which Titan's ControlMax manuals use for relieving pressure. Follow the pressure relief procedure in your manual before you service anything on the cart, and do not improvise from this page.
Cleaning and storage that save these parts
Titan's ControlMax manuals give short storage routines. For latex, pump water mixed with Liquid Shield (314-482) through the system for short-term storage. For oil-based coatings, flush with mineral spirits and then soapy water. For long-term storage, put a few drops of Piston Lube (314-480) or light household oil into the gun housing.
Dried paint in the inlet filter, valves or gun filter is what turns a cheap flush into a parts order, so do not skip it.

A ControlMax Pro cart uses the cart main assembly page plus the Pro suction set page. For a pump that will not prime, check the inlet filter and suction side, then clean the inlet valve as the manual says, and only then look at the valves, the piston/seal assembly or the complete fluid section.
