A coarse pattern means a worn tip or dirty filter. Paint seeping from the pump points to packings, balls or seats. Surge at the gun usually means worn upper packings. A sprayer that will not hold pressure with a new tip and clean filters needs its valves checked. Titan publishes no service intervals, so replace parts when the signs show, not on a guess.
Why signs matter more than a schedule
Titan does not give hours or gallons of life for the packings, valves, filters or motor on the Impact X, so there is no number to replace by. What you have is the sprayer's behaviour, and it is a good guide. This page sorts the signs by how you notice them. It does not repeat the full diagnostic order, which is in the Impact X troubleshooting guide; it tells you when a sign means a part is worn out and what to do next.

What you hear
The Impact X runs a brushless motor, which Titan lists as DuraLife HE. Titan's manuals do not give a catalogue of noises, so we make no claim about what a particular sound means. Two sound changes are worth acting on. If the pump runs but the sprayer does not take paint, treat it as a prime problem: PRIME/SPRAY valve, suction air leak, clogged screen, then the stuck inlet ball. If the sprayer shuts down or will not start, check power, the breaker and the pressure knob first, as Titan's manuals list, and call a service center for loose wiring or internal electrical faults.
What you feel
- Surge or pulsing at the gun. Titan's Impact manuals list worn upper packings for excessive surge. Clean the filters first, then look at the repacking kit.
- Trigger response is sluggish and the pressure sags under load. Titan lists a worn tip, clogged filters, air leaks and worn packings or valve balls for pressure that will not hold.
- Gun filter or tip clogs repeatedly. Check the pump filter and strain the paint. A failing pump filter lets debris through to the tip.
- The pressure control feels different or the knob is loose. The diagrams list the 805-354 control knob and the 2423449 potentiometer on the X 410 and X 440 drive pages.
When a sign means more than one part
A single sign can have several causes, so replace the easiest candidate first and run the sprayer. Tip, then filters, then suction seals, then pusher stem, then pump valves and packings. If you have already done the first four and the sign is unchanged, the fluid section is the next place. The Impact X 440 Fluid Section page shows the parts in order. Valves and packings wear together, so when you open the pump for one, check the other.
