Titan rates its No Build Tip Guard, 289228, up to 5000 psi (34.5 MPa). Relieve pressure with the manual's procedure before you change any of them.
What sits at the nose of an RX-80
At the front of the gun there are four things to know about: the spray tip, the tip seals, the tip guard that threads onto the gun and the diffuser behind them. On the site they are all on the RX-80 Airless Gun Parts List, with a shorter version on the RX-80 Airless Spray Gun page. Open the numbered diagram, find the callout and add the part to your cart.

On the shorter RX-80 Airless Spray Gun page the guard is listed as 0289228A, a tip guard package.
Tip guard
The parts list shows 0289228, tip guard, G-thread, at callout 8. The shorter diagram lists 0289228A, a tip guard package. Titan sells the 289228 as its No Build Tip Guard and rates it up to 5000 psi (34.5 MPa). The RX-80 itself is rated at 3600 psi (24.8 MPa), so the guard is not the limiting part here. Titan's higher-rated HP guard, 661-027, is rated up to 7700 psi (53 MPa), but the gun's own rating still sets the limit for the whole system.

Tip seals
Two tip seals appear on the RX-80 parts list: 0297007 at callout 9 and 651-020 at callout 10. Use the numbered callouts to see where each goes, and confirm with us if you are unsure which your gun needs. We do not describe how they differ, because Titan does not publish that on the pages we use.
The Titan seals page also offers the 661-020 tip seat and seal kit in a 5 pack, which is another way to keep spares on the truck.
Diffuser
The diffuser on the diagram is the 0538200 diffuser, 7/8 in., callout 6. We do not describe what a diffuser does beyond its name. If the gun leaks or spits at the tip, check your manual's troubleshooting before ordering parts.
Choosing the tip
RX-80 configurations come with a 517 tip, and SC-6+ 517 versions are also sold. Under the common tip code, the first digit doubled gives the fan width in inches at 12 inches from the surface and the last two digits give the orifice in thousandths of an inch, so a 517 is a 10 in. fan with a 0.017 in. orifice. The site lists the 695-517 TR1 517 reversible tip; the TR1 reversible tips page shows the other sizes.
A worn tip has a wider orifice. Pressure falls, the pattern turns coarse or streaky and the gun uses more paint. When the pattern degrades, replace the tip before you spend money on other parts.
Fitting guidance
Before you change a tip or guard, follow the pressure relief procedure in your RX-80 manual. The manuals are on our manuals page. Titan's RX manuals show how to put the tip seal and tip into the guard, thread the guard onto the gun and tighten it. We do not put those steps into our own words, so use the manual for them.
