Filter parts for the 440 are not one-size-fits-all. The 100 mesh filter is listed for the Impact X 410, 440 and 540I, while the original Impact 440 carries its own filter parts, including a 60 mesh manifold filter, on its fluid section diagram. Confirm your exact model before ordering. Most available items are processed for shipment within about 1-2 business days, though some are ordered from the manufacturer after you order (see Shipping Info). We can confirm fitment by phone first.
Why Filter Fitment Varies
The Titan 440 name covers two different machines: the original Impact 440 and the newer Impact X 440. The Impact X line is a newer design with its own diagram pages, and its pump, filter and drive part numbers differ from the original Impact. For a deeper comparison, see Impact 440 vs Impact X 440: What Changed and What Parts Differ, and Which Titan 440 Do You Have? if you are not sure which one you own.
The 100 Mesh Filter
The Titan 2440408 Filter 100 Mesh is a genuine OEM part listed on this site with fitment for the Impact X 410, 440 and 540I. It appears on the Impact X 440 accessories page. For comparison, the Impact X filter assembly pages list a 60 mesh filter, part 2424933, so check which mesh your machine is set up for before you swap one for the other.
Matching Your Exact Model
Before ordering, confirm whether your machine is the original Impact 440 or an Impact X model. The filter parts on the two diagrams are different. The original Impact 440 fluid section page holds the 730-067 60 mesh manifold filter, the 702-251 filter screen adapter and the 757-105 filter support spring. The Impact X 440 filter assembly page lists the 2424933 filter, 2424932 filter core, 2424886A filter bowl, 2424931A filter cap and 2424934 O-ring.
| Model | Filter parts on the site's diagram |
|---|---|
| Impact X 410 / 440 / 540I | 2424933 60 mesh filter in the filter assembly; 2440408 100 mesh filter listed with fitment for all three |
| Original Impact 440 | 730-067 60 mesh manifold filter, 702-251 adapter and 757-105 spring on the fluid section page |
Choosing Mesh Size
Titan codes its gun filters by color and mesh: green is 30 mesh (coarse), white is 60 (medium), yellow is 100 (fine) and red is 150 (extra fine). A higher mesh number means a finer screen that catches smaller particles. A finer screen also has smaller openings for material to pass through, so thick material can load it faster. Your manual and the filter your machine came with are the starting point, and the diagram shows what the machine is built to take.
- Fine finishes: a finer mesh keeps small debris out of the material before it reaches the tip.
- Heavily bodied coatings: a coarser mesh passes more material, so ask us or check your manual before going finer.
For gun filters and which guns take them, see Airless Gun Filters: 30, 60, 100 and 150 Mesh and Which Guns Take Them.
Checking the Diagram
If you are unsure which filter your machine takes, the most reliable method is the exploded diagram for your exact model rather than the general "440" name. Open the Impact 440 fluid section if you own the original, or the Impact X 440 filter assembly if you own the X. Find the numbered callout for the filter and order by that part number.
Installing It Correctly
Follow the pressure relief procedure in your manual before opening the filter housing. Make sure the new filter is fully seated and the housing is sealed on reassembly. Titan's manuals say to inspect the pump filter and the gun filter and clean or replace them, because dirty filters cause poor patterns and clogged tips.
Symptoms of the Wrong Filter Installed
An incorrectly matched filter does not always fail obviously. It may not seat fully in a housing it was not made for, which can let unfiltered material get past it even though a filter is installed. If you still get tip clogs or pattern problems after changing the filter, check that the part number you ordered matches your exact model's diagram before assuming the new filter is faulty. A clogged pump filter or gun filter is also on the manuals' list of causes for a sprayer that will not build pressure or will not prime.
Related Filter Parts
The filter is rarely the only part involved. On the Impact X 440 filter assembly page the diagram also lists the 2440405 by-pass valve assembly, the 700-537 gasket and the 227-006 outlet fitting. The suction side has its own screen, the 700-805 inlet screen filter, which is listed on the Impact 440 and Impact X suction set diagrams. When you open the filter housing, it is a good moment to look over the O-ring and gasket while the housing is apart.
