In Short

The Titan RX-Pro is a Red Series airless spray gun with a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa). Titan supplies it with both a two-finger and a four-finger trigger and a no-build tip guard. Guns are 538020 (517 tip) and 538021 (SC-6+ 517 tip); gun, hose and tip kits are 538022, 538023 and 538033.

Where the RX-Pro sits in Titan's line

Titan groups three guns as its Red Series: the RX-80, the RX-Pro and the RX-Apex. The RX-Pro is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa), the same rating Titan gives the RX-80. The RX-Apex is the Red Series gun with the higher 5000 psi rating.

If you already own an RX-Pro, the RX-Pro parts diagram lists 29 parts with numbered callouts. If you are choosing one, the RX-Pro guns and accessories page shows what we list for it.

What comes in the box

Titan lists two RX-Pro guns, and the difference between them is the tip.

538020517 tipTwo-finger and four-finger triggers, no-build tip guard
538021SC-6+ 517 tipTwo-finger and four-finger triggers, no-build tip guard

Our site prints the names slightly differently from Titan's: 538020 is shown as RX-Pro Airless Spray Gun, 517 TR1 Tip, and 538021 as RX-PRO Gun. They are the same Titan guns.

Both trigger styles ship with the gun, so you choose which one to fit and keep the other. That is different from the RX-80, where each configuration comes with one trigger style.

Features Titan names

These are Titan's own descriptions. We pass them on as Titan's claims, not as figures we measured.

  • Ultra-light Trigger. Titan describes it as 30% lighter than a competitor's trigger pull. Titan does not give a trigger force in the pages we checked.
  • FingerPrint Grip. A grip you can customise to your hand. Grips are sold separately in small, medium and large.
  • Infinity Packing. Titan says it gives 2X the gun life by reversing the seat and changing the ball. That is a statement about how the valve parts can be reused, not a service life in hours or gallons, and Titan does not publish one.
  • Onboard Tools. Titan lists these as a feature of the gun. Your manual covers what they are for.

Triggers, grips and the filter

Grips are separate parts. The RX-Pro diagram lists 0538217 as the small grip kit, 0538218 as the medium and 0538219 as the large, and it lists the trigger and lock assembly as its own part, so a worn grip or trigger does not mean replacing the gun.

Titan lists its unthreaded gun filters as fitting the RX-Pro. The diagram also shows a filter replacement mesh, 0089958B. Titan's colour code runs green for 30 mesh, white for 60, yellow for 100 and red for 150, finer as the number rises.

Matching the rest of your system

A gun's rating is only one part of the system. Never run any component above the lowest working-pressure rating in the system, which includes the hose, gun, tip guard and fittings. Your sprayer's manual gives its own maximum, so compare that against the 3600 psi of the gun before you spray.

The RX-Pro gun, hose and tip kits (538022 with a 517 tip, 538023 with an SC-6+ 517 tip, and 538033 with an HEA 517 tip) include a 50 ft x 1/4 in. airless hose rated for 3300 psi, plus a 3 ft whip hose. If your sprayer works above 3300 psi, check that hose rating before you order a kit. See gun, hose and tip kits, or our listing for 0538022.

Tip guards have ratings of their own. Titan rates its No Build Tip Guard 289228 up to 5000 psi, which covers a 3600 psi gun. See our tip guards page and read the rating before you swap one.

Pressure relief and injectionAirless spray can inject paint through the skin. It looks like a small cut but is a medical emergency: get immediate attention and tell the doctor what the fluid was. Never put a hand over the tip or point the gun at yourself. Engage the trigger lock when you are not spraying, keep the tip guard fitted, and follow the pressure relief procedure in your sprayer's manual before you change a tip or service the gun.

Where to find RX-Pro parts

Start from the 29-part RX-Pro diagram. The valve end parts owners ask about first are the ball valve kit 0538221, the seat 594-033 and the gasket 594-006. Open the diagram, find the numbered callout and add that part.

Manuals are on our manuals page. For procedures, such as reversing the seat or changing a trigger, follow the RX-Pro manual; we do not replace it. If you are not sure which listing matches your gun, call (713) 931-0006 with the model and serial number.

The Short Version

The RX-Pro is a 3600 psi (24.8 MPa) Red Series gun that ships with both trigger styles and a no-build tip guard. Choose 538020 or 538021 by tip, check the hose and tip ratings against your sprayer, and use the 29-part diagram when something wears.

Frequently Asked Questions
What pressure is the Titan RX-Pro rated for?
Titan gives the RX-Pro a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa). The hose, tip and tip guard you use with it must each be rated at least as high as your sprayer can produce, so check every rating, not just the gun's.
Does the RX-Pro come with both triggers?
Yes. Titan says the RX-Pro comes with both a two-finger and a four-finger trigger, along with a no-build tip guard. You fit whichever style you prefer.
What is Infinity Packing on the RX-Pro?
It is Titan's name for the RX-Pro's valve packing design. Titan says it gives 2X the gun life by reversing the seat and changing the ball. Titan does not publish a life in hours or gallons, so treat it as a maker's claim and follow the manual for the procedure.
Which parts diagram do I use for an RX-Pro?
Use the RX-Pro Airless Gun Part List, which has 29 numbered parts. Find the callout, then add that part. If a part is not on the diagram or you are unsure, call (713) 931-0006 with your model.
