In Short

The Titan RX-80 is a Red Series airless gun with a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa). Titan sells it in five configurations: 538005 and 538006 with a 517 tip, 538007 and 538008 with an SC-6+ 517 tip, and 538009 with no tip. The four-finger guns are 538005, 538007 and 538009; the two-finger guns are 538006 and 538008.

What the RX-80 is

The RX-80 is one of three guns Titan groups as its Red Series, alongside the RX-Pro and the RX-Apex. Titan rates it for a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa). Titan names three features: a Comfort Grip, a Longer Life Packing Kit and Onboard Tools.

Those are Titan's words and we keep them as Titan's. The RX-80 uses the Longer Life Packing Kit wording, which is not the same name as the Infinity Packing on the RX-Pro and RX-Apex, so do not assume the two are the same design. Titan does not publish a packing life for the RX-80.

The five configurations

Titan sells the RX-80 as five numbered guns. The number tells you the trigger and the tip, so check it against the number on your gun's listing before you order a replacement or a matching accessory.

Our site prints these as 0538005 through 0538008 and 538009 (listed as RX-80 4 Finger No Tip). They match Titan's configurations.

Two-finger or four-finger trigger

An RX-80 comes with a two-finger or a four-finger trigger, depending on the configuration you buy. The RX-Pro is different: Titan supplies that gun with both trigger styles.

Which to pick is a matter of hand size and how long you spray. We do not claim either one is safer or faster. Whichever you choose, engage the trigger lock whenever you are not spraying.

Which tip comes on it

Four of the five guns include a tip, and it is either a 517 tip or an SC-6+ 517 tip. Read the three digits of a tip code like this: the first digit doubled is the fan width in inches at 12 inches from the surface, and the last two digits are the orifice in thousandths of an inch. A 517 is therefore about a 10 inch fan with a 0.017 inch orifice. Titan describes the SC-6+ Reversible as made for latex in residential or commercial work.

The RX-80 with an HEA 517 tip is not one of the five guns. It appears only in the gun, hose and tip kit 2454979, covered below. See our TR1 HEA tips if that is the tip you want. Titan states that the HEA tips are optimised to spray architectural coatings at 1,000 psi. Check any tip's pressure rating against the lowest rating in your system before you fit it.

Kits and accessories that fit

Titan also sells the RX-80 as a gun, hose and tip kit. The kits include a 50 ft x 1/4 in. airless hose rated for 3300 psi and a 3 ft whip hose. Our site lists 0538011 (SC-6+ 517 tip) and 2454979 (HEA 517 tip), and you can browse them on our gun, hose and tip kits page. If your sprayer works above 3300 psi, check the hose rating before ordering a kit.

Titan lists its unthreaded gun filters as fitting the RX-80. The coloured filters run green for 30 mesh, white for 60, yellow for 100 and red for 150. Titan says a gun filter helps reduce tip plugging. The full range of RX-80 guns and accessories is on the RX-80 guns and accessories page.

Finding RX-80 parts

We have two RX-80 diagram pages. The RX-80 Airless Gun Parts List shows 20 parts and is the one to open first. The RX-80 Airless Spray Gun page shows 9 parts. The gun repair kit 0538215 is on both. We do not list the kit's contents here because they are not something we can verify; check with our parts team if the contents decide your purchase.

Manuals are on our manuals page, and follow your sprayer's manual for the pressure relief procedure before any tip change or service. If the diagram does not settle fitment, call (713) 931-0006 with your gun's model and serial number.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the RX-80 part numbers?
Titan sells five RX-80 guns: 538005 (four-finger, 517 tip), 538006 (two-finger, 517 tip), 538007 (four-finger, SC-6+ 517 tip), 538008 (two-finger, SC-6+ 517 tip) and 538009 (four-finger, no tip). Our site lists them as 0538005 to 0538008 and 538009.
Is the RX-80 a 2-finger or 4-finger gun?
Both exist. Titan builds the RX-80 with either a two-finger or a four-finger trigger depending on the configuration. 538006 and 538008 are two-finger guns; 538005, 538007 and 538009 are four-finger guns.
What pressure is the RX-80 rated for?
Titan gives the RX-80 a maximum operating pressure of 3600 psi (24.8 MPa). Your hose, tip and tip guard must each be rated at least as high as your sprayer can produce, so check every rating before spraying.
Which gun filter fits the RX-80?
Titan lists its unthreaded gun filters as fitting the RX-80. They come as green 30 mesh, white 60 mesh, yellow 100 mesh and red 150 mesh. Open the gun filter pages on our site, or call (713) 931-0006 to confirm the right mesh for your coating.
