Titan 944-014 Elbow,1/4

Titan 944-014 Elbow,1/4"NPT

Sourced From:
Titan Tools Inc.

Titan part 944-014 is a 1/4" NPT elbow fitting used in fluid or air line connections on compatible Titan PowrTwin sprayers / stripers. The 90‑degree elbow allows tubing or hose to change direction in tight spaces, reducing stress on lines and simplifying routing. Made from corrosion‑resistant material for long service life.

1/4" NPT Elbow Fitting for Titan PowrTwin Sprayers / Stripers

The Titan 944-014 1/4" NPT Elbow is a 90‑degree brass or plated steel fitting used to connect fluid hoses, pump outlet lines, or air tubes on PowrTwin series equipment. Its compact design allows tubing to change direction without kinking or excessive bending, which reduces stress on connections and prevents leaks.

Over time, elbows can crack, corrode, or have damaged threads from overtightening or vibration. A leaking or restricted elbow can cause pressure drops, material waste, or unsafe spraying conditions. Replacing a worn elbow restores leak‑free operation and proper flow.

Service Guidance: If you notice paint or air weeping from a fitting, or if the elbow feels loose despite proper tightening, inspect the threads and sealing surface. Use thread sealant (not tape) on NPT threads for a reliable seal. Replace the elbow if any crack or deformation is visible.

What it does and when to replace it

What the 1/4" NPT elbow does
Direction change Provides a 90° turn for hoses or rigid lines
Space saving Allows routing in tight compartments without sharp bends
Threaded connection Standard 1/4" NPT male/female threads for secure attachment
Durable material Brass or zinc‑plated steel resists corrosion and fatigue
When replacement is recommended
Visible cracks Casting or body cracks, especially near the hex flats
Thread damage Stripped, cross‑threaded, or corroded threads that won't seal
Persistent leakage Fluid seeps from the fitting even after retightening with sealant
Internal restriction Reduced flow due to scale buildup or deformation

Compatibility

Titan 944-014 is compatible with the following Titan PowrTwin models. Always verify that the elbow is used in the correct port location per your machine's parts diagram.

Brand / Model Component
PowrTwin 4900 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin 6900 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin 8900 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin 12000 Plus 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin 4900XLT 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin 6900XLT 1/4" NPT elbow
PowrTwin TM 8900XLT 1/4" NPT elbow

Related parts commonly serviced together

When replacing an elbow fitting, inspect these associated components to ensure a complete and leak‑free repair.

Thread sealant (pipe dope)

Use a high‑quality anaerobic sealant on NPT threads; avoid Teflon tape that can shred.

Hose or tube assembly

If the elbow was leaking, the attached hose may also be worn or cracked.

Nipple or straight adapter

If threads are damaged in the mating port, you may need a repair fitting or new component.

Frequently Asked Questions

NPT stands for National Pipe Taper. A 1/4" NPT fitting has tapered threads that seal by wedging against mating threads. The 1/4" refers to the nominal inside diameter of the pipe. These fittings are common in airless sprayer fluid and air circuits.

It is not recommended. Teflon tape can shred and contaminate the paint or fluid system, clogging filters and tips. Use a paste‑type thread sealant (pipe dope) that is compatible with paints and solvents. Apply only to the male threads, not the first one or two threads.

Titan 944-014 is typically manufactured from brass or zinc‑plated steel for corrosion resistance and strength. Check your original part; if replacing a steel fitting in a high‑vibration area, maintain the same material to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Only if the hose routing allows a straight line without kinking. The elbow is designed to relieve strain and fit in confined spaces. Substituting a straight fitting may cause the hose to bend sharply, leading to premature failure or flow restriction.
