Viton O‑Ring for a Wide Range of Titan & Compatible Sprayers

The Titan 221-012 Viton O‑ring is a high‑performance sealing component made from fluoroelastomer (FKM). It is designed to resist degradation from aggressive solvents, paints, thinners, and high temperatures that would damage standard rubber O‑rings. This O‑ring is used in pump fluid sections, valve housings, and manifold connections across dozens of sprayer models.

A worn, flattened, or hardened O‑ring will cause fluid leaks, air ingestion, loss of prime, or pressure instability. Replacing with a genuine Viton O‑ring restores leak‑tight sealing and ensures compatibility with chemical‑based coatings.

Service Guidance: Always lubricate the new O‑ring with a compatible grease or coating material before installation. Inspect the groove and mating surfaces for scratches or debris. Do not over‑stretch the O‑ring during fitting.

What it does and when to replace it

What the Viton O‑ring does
Fluid sealing Prevents leaks of paint, solvent, or water under pressure
Chemical resistance Viton withstands aggressive coatings that damage standard rubber
Temperature stability Maintains seal integrity at elevated operating temperatures
When replacement is recommended
Hardening / loss of elasticity O‑ring feels brittle or no longer rebounds after compression
Cracks or nicks Visible damage that creates a leak path
Flattening / compression set O‑ring no longer fills the groove, causing bypass

Related parts commonly serviced together

When replacing a worn O‑ring, inspect these associated sealing components.

Backup rings

Used with O‑rings in high‑pressure or dynamic applications to prevent extrusion.

Gland / groove condition

Scratches, corrosion, or debris in the O‑ring groove will cause premature failure of the new seal.

Mating hardware (piston, housing, valve)

Worn or damaged metal surfaces can compromise O‑ring sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Viton fluoroelastomer offers superior chemical resistance to solvents, paints, thinners, and fuels that would quickly degrade standard nitrile (Buna‑N) or neoprene rubber. It also withstands higher operating temperatures, making it the preferred material for sprayer fluid sections exposed to aggressive coatings.

Signs include: visible fluid leaks from the sealed joint, loss of prime or pressure, air bubbles in the spray pattern, the O‑ring feels hard and brittle, shows cracks or nicks, or has taken a permanent "flat" set where it no longer protrudes above the groove.

Yes – the 221-012 Viton O‑ring is the correct size and material for the specific sealing locations (such as pump manifolds, valve cartridges, or fluid inlet fittings) on all models listed. However, always verify the exact position in your sprayer's parts diagram, as some models use multiple O‑ring sizes in different locations.

Yes – a light coating of a compatible lubricant (such as the material being sprayed, a silicone‑free grease, or a manufacturer‑recommended O‑ring lubricant) helps prevent pinching or rolling during assembly and ensures proper seating. Never use petroleum‑based grease on Viton unless specified, as some formulations may cause swelling.
