When to Replace vs. When to Rebuild
Unlike airless fluid sections where a complete rebuild restores the machine to like-new specification, HVLP gun maintenance is more a matter of individual component replacement as wear becomes visible in finish quality.
The practical decision: replace the needle and nozzle as a matched pair when atomization quality declines, replace the needle packing when material leaks around the needle shaft, replace the trigger when trigger response becomes inconsistent. The air valve and spring are replaced when air timing is noticeably off and cleaning doesn't resolve it.
Replacement of the gun body itself is rarely necessary — the gun body is a structural housing, not a wear component. If the gun body is cracked or thread-damaged, replacement is appropriate. Otherwise, component-level service maintains the Maxum Elite indefinitely.
