Complete Fluid Section Assembly for Airless Sprayer 340 / 440I

The 704-274 Fluid Section Assembly is a complete, pre‑assembled fluid pump section designed for Airless Sprayer 340 and 440I models. It replaces the entire pump housing, piston, packings, valves, and seals as one unit. This assembly is ideal for sprayers with severe wear, corrosion, or damage to the cylinder bore that cannot be repaired with a standard seal kit.

Over time, the pump cylinder can become scored, the piston rod worn, and the valve seats eroded. Replacing individual components may not restore full performance if the housing itself is compromised. The 704‑274 assembly restores the pump to factory specifications, eliminating pressure loss, priming failures, and external leaks.

Service Guidance: Before installing the new fluid section, clean the motor housing mounting surface and inspect the drive linkage. Apply a light grease to the piston rod end and connecting rod pin. Torque mounting bolts to manufacturer specifications. Prime the pump with water or paint thinner before full operation.

What it does and when to replace it

What the fluid section assembly does
Complete pump replacement Provides a fully assembled fluid section ready to install
Restores pressure & flow New cylinder, piston, and valves eliminate wear issues
Eliminates multiple failure points Replaces all wear components in one assembly
When replacement is recommended
Scored or worn cylinder bore Deep scratches that cannot be honed out
Repeated seal failure New packings fail quickly due to housing damage
Cracked fluid housing Visible crack causing external leak or structural weakness
Major overhaul Complete rebuild after years of heavy use

Compatibility

Part 704-274 is compatible with the following Airless Sprayer models. Always verify with your machine's parts diagram before ordering.

Brand / Model Component
Airless Sprayer 340 Complete fluid section assembly
Airless Sprayer 440I Complete fluid section assembly

Related parts commonly serviced together

When replacing the fluid section assembly, these related components are often inspected or replaced at the same time.

Connecting rod / drive linkage

Inspect for wear at the pin connection; replace if loose or damaged.

Motor mounting plate

Check for flatness and thread integrity.

High‑pressure hose

Inspect the hose and fittings for leaks or damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The assembly includes the complete cylinder housing, piston rod, upper and lower packings, pressure rings, inlet valve assembly, outlet valve assembly, and all required seals and O‑rings. It is ready to bolt onto the motor housing.

If the cylinder bore is deeply scored, the housing is cracked, or the piston rod is bent or heavily worn, a seal kit will not fix the underlying problem. Also, if the sprayer has seen extreme use or corrosion, replacing the entire assembly saves labor compared to rebuilding a damaged housing.

This assembly fits Airless Sprayer 340 and 440I. It may also fit other models that use the same pump design; always consult your parts diagram.

Basic hand tools (wrenches, socket set) and a torque wrench are sufficient. No special packing tools are needed because the assembly comes pre‑built. You will need to disconnect the old fluid section and bolt on the new one.
