Plug for Titan Airless Spray Guns

The Titan 520-034 Plug is a threaded sealing component used to close unused ports or access openings on several Titan airless spray gun models, including the Airless SGX 20, Airless S5, and Airless G-15 XL Gun. These spray guns are manufactured with various ports to accommodate different configurations, accessory installations, or manufacturing processes. When a port is not in use, it must be sealed with a plug to prevent pressurized coating material from escaping during operation. The plug must withstand the full operating pressure of the airless system, which can range from 1500 to 3000 PSI or higher depending on the material and tip size. A failing or missing plug can result in high-pressure fluid leakage, creating a hazardous work environment due to slippery surfaces and the risk of fluid injection injuries. The plug also serves to exclude dirt, debris, and dried paint particles from entering the internal fluid passages, which could otherwise contaminate the material stream and cause tip clogs or valve damage. Over the service life of the spray gun, the plug can suffer from several failure modes. Repeated removal and installation can strip the threads on the plug or in the gun body. Overtightening can deform the sealing surfaces or crack the plug body, while undertightening may allow the plug to loosen under vibration and leak. Corrosion from exposure to water-based paints, solvents, or cleaning solutions can degrade the plug material or cause it to seize in place. The plug head may become damaged, making removal difficult during future service. Replacing a damaged, corroded, or missing plug restores leak-free sealing, protects internal passages from contamination, and ensures safe operation at full system pressure. Using the correct plug specification is essential, as an incorrect thread pitch or sealing design may not provide adequate pressure containment.
